Pythia

About Pythia

Built on science. Designed for hiring.

Pythia was born from a simple observation: the tools most organizations use to understand people haven't kept up with what science actually knows about them.

Most personality assessments used in enterprise settings share the same problems. They're not well-supported by the scientific literature, and many of the most widely deployed tools have weak or contested validity. They cause friction, pulling candidates or employees out of their workflow to fill out lengthy, impersonal questionnaires. And increasingly, they're trivially easy to game: a quick prompt to an AI and anyone can return whatever profile they think the employer wants to see.

Personality shapes how we think, communicate, and connect — and decades of research in attachment theory, social cognition, and behavioral neuroscience have given us a much richer picture of human psychology than a multiple-choice questionnaire can capture. We built Pythia to close that gap: an AI-powered psychometric platform grounded in peer-reviewed science, designed to surface insights that are genuinely useful and much harder to fake.

We take the science seriously. Our assessments draw on validated frameworks, and our approach is informed by active researchers working at the cutting edge of personality psychology and social cognition. We also take responsibility seriously: Pythia is built with Canadian privacy standards baked in from the ground up, not bolted on after the fact.

We're a small team with backgrounds spanning academic research, software engineering, and data science. What we share is a belief that understanding people better leads to better outcomes for everyone involved.

Principles

What we stand for.

Scientific rigour

Every measurement decision is grounded in peer-reviewed personality research. As opposed to other firms, who use proprietary tests, we use the academically validated Big Five tests.

Transparency

Candidates always receive their own profile. We don't believe in black-box hiring. If a number shapes a decision about someone's career, that person deserves to see it.

Honest limits

Personality predicts; it doesn't determine. We surface signal, not verdicts. Pythia is a decision-support tool, not a replacement for human judgement.
